goes by the artist name of

Suzume odori, Danse du moineau Collection

As I was walking along the alleys of this early flea market , I stopped on this old piece of printed cotton. Colorless; a beige probably dyed with tea as they dye old white fabrics over here. My eyes were caught by the design combining calligraphy and characters, probably Meiji jidai, considering how used it looked and the shape of it. The vendor explained it was transformed as a wallet for notes only. The pattern is called ” Dance of the Sparrow “… popular dance every Japanese used to know as it is a matsuri one !!! The wallet is still to be sold somewhere…but the rememberance of the pattern has become ” Suzume Odori, Danse du moineau” Collection.
